Volunteers Needed
Join for the fun. Stay for the Rewards! When you become a 4-H volunteer, you reap many rewards for yourself and the youth in your community. You are needed to help youth become better citizens and develop valuable life and work skills. In addition, you will learn a great deal about young people and about yourself while meeting others in your community. Do you have a special skill or interest that you’d like to share with 4-H youth? Massachusetts 4-H is different from many other youth-serving organizations in that its volunteers can develop activities and structure the club’s meetings around the volunteer’s own special interests and abilities. There are also special pre-established programs and curricula that teach a variety of topics and skill activities, if you want to begin with existing 4-H national and local programs. Many new 4-H volunteers first become involved as assistant leaders with an experienced 4-H leader and then go on to start their own clubs. As a new 4-H volunteer, you will receive an orientation and on-going support from regional 4-H staff in your area. In addition, you will have access to exciting, up to date, age appropriate, low cost program booklets and materials. 4-H also welcomes your talents if you’d like to participate in a 4-H fair, animal science, or county advisory councils (link) especially if you have experience with non-profit boards, fundraising or youth organizations. Want more information on 4-H volunteering? See “Frequently Asked Questions.” If you are ready to apply as a 4-H volunteer, go the “How to Apply” on the left, Massachusetts 4-H Advisory Councils.
